Why Travel Makes You Care: A Dive Into the Heart of Nature

“IT’S SO IMPORTANT!!”, I shouted as I swam in the clear, still, and tranquil waters of the most aquarium like cenote in Cancun, Mexico. After a morning of hiking in the early summer months in Mexico and touring the ancient Mayan ruins, taking a dive into the chilly waters was nothing but refreshing. A cenote is a naturally made sinkhole that creates a perfect pool of water. Cenotes were sacred for the Mayans and in just the small amount of time I spent swimming around in this clear, blue, fresh water, it was easy to see why. I would not consider myself an environmentalist. I do my part by recycling and try to cut down on my plastic usage, but to be deep in nature isn’t something I get to experience every day.

As I gently kicked my feet in the water, with the limestone walls surrounding me, the trees seemingly peering in over me and the sun cascading through the leaves, I realized why it’s so important to care for our Earth. Its beauty has the power to make you feel whole and to nurture you unlike any other. All it asks in return is to be seen, lived in, connected with, and cared for. This is why travel is so important. To truly understand, we must intentionally experience it.

We must explore the world around us and get to know it through all our senses. When we do that, we learn just what a gift we’ve been provided. Are you ready to explore the Yucatan Peninsula and dive into the cenotes? Let Rev Elite Travel take you on your next adventure and see the world like never before!
